Designed by Darby Partners and opened in 2007 to host the New Zealand Open, this exclusive 18-hole layout offers elevated tees, sweeping fairways, and no two holes alike — delivering a truly immersive and unforgettable golfing experience. The dream of original owner, Kiwi entrepreneur Sir Michael Hill, The Hills is more than a golf course — it’s an open-air gallery. Sculptures by renowned New Zealand and international artists are woven throughout the landscape, from cast iron horses to the dramatic “Wolves are Coming” installation near the 18th fairway. Every round is framed by native tussocks, schist outcrops, and panoramic mountain views. Primarily a private members’ club, The Hills offers a limited number of visitor bookings daily (excluding Sundays). Guests enjoy access to the award-winning clubhouse — a subterranean architectural marvel — along with full practice facilities, gourmet dining, and personalised service.
